Scott Carpenter Engages Students About Metic Heritage in Canada

May 11, 2013 - On May 1, Gr. 5 and 5 students from St. Francis were invited to hear Scott Carpenter at Holy Cross School. Scott's heritage is Metis, and he was able to share with students what it means to be Metis in Canada. He shared traditions, stories, and cultural nuances of the Metis people. Artifacts were shared and students had an opportunity to touch and feel those artifacts. It was an illuminating experience for our students, and they came away with knowledge and pride in this country we call Canada, and what makes up the fabric of being a Canadian.
