We Recognize Orange Shirt Day

On September 30th, St. Francis School joined communities across Canada in recognizing Orange Shirt Day, a time for reflection, remembrance, and reconciliation. This day provides an opportunity to honor the children who were sent to residential schools and to acknowledge the profound impact this history has on Indigenous communities.

The day’s theme, Every Child Matters, serves as a reminder of the importance of fostering understanding, respect, and empathy in our community. Students, staff, and families wore orange shirts to show solidarity and commitment to creating a positive environment where every child is valued, supported, and treated with dignity.

At St. Francis, we are dedicated to learning about and respecting the cultural diversity of all individuals, and events like Orange Shirt Day allow us to continue our journey toward healing and reconciliation. We encourage our students and families to keep the conversation going, understanding that the lessons learned today will help build a better tomorrow for all.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this important day of reflection and unity.
