2021-22 Director’s Annual Report

We thank our Board of Trustees, Senior Administration, staff, students, families, volunteers, community partners, and our parishes for their continued support and commitment to Sudbury Catholic. Together we are providing a caring, progressive, high quality Catholic school system that is nurturing our students – mind, body, and spirit.

SCDSB Cheers on LU

Sudbury Catholic District School Board elementary students were invited to cheer on their local Laurentian University Voyageurs hockey team during one of their season games. Students from St. Francis, Holy Cross, St. David, Holy Trinity, and St. Benedict packed the arena as they cheered on the Voyageurs as they won a victory over Nipissing 3-2 in a shootout.

SCDSB Junior Girls Handball Tournament Results

On March 4, teams from several Sudbury Catholic Elementary Schools took part in the Board’s Junior Girls Handball Tournament at St. Benedict Catholic Secondary School.
The results were as follows:
1st place – St. Francis
2nd place – St. David
3rd place – St. Paul
4th place – St. Raphael
Congratulations to all the participants and thank you to all of the coaches, teachers, parents and volunteers involved!

St. Francis Champions of Bears’ Classic Boys’ Elementary Basketball Tournament

This past weekend, the St. Francis “A” took home the gold at the annual Bears’ Classic Boys’ Elementary Basketball Tournament.

St. Francis “A” Basketball Team Bring their “A” Game all Season

The St. Francis “A” team, coached by teacher Brendan Bradley, won the Greater Sudbury Board of Basketball Officials Tournament recently. In total, this team of top-notch players have won three tournaments including their latest as well as the Macdonald Cartier and Bishop Alexander tournaments. They came second in the St. Charles College tournament (losing by one point) and third in the St. Benedict tournament. The staff and students of St. Francis Catholic Elementary school are very proud of the team and congratulate them on their excellent season!

St. Francis Flames Basketball Teams Perfect on the Season

The St. Francis Flames Grade 7/8 Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball teams went undefeated during the 2008-2009 regular season. The ultimate crowning touch – both teams won the Greater Sudbury Board Basketball Officials Tournament in Round Robin play.

The St. Francis Flames girls’ team played St. Denis in the final to a win while the boys’ played Northeastern Public School and won in overtime by three points.

Congratulations to all the players, coaches, parents and staff at St. Francis Catholic School for another spectacular season.

St. Francis Catholic School Presents “Wellness Day”

On May 1, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. the Grade 7 and 8 students at St. Francis Catholic School will be participating in a Wellness Day. Representatives from the Sudbury and District Health Unit as well as Life Zone will be presenting to the students on a wide range of topics from Healthy Eating and Nutrition, to Kickboxing classes.

St. Francis Catholic School Hosts SCDSB Boy’s and Girl’s Invitational Volleyball Tournaments

St. Francis Catholic School hosted the SCDSB Boy’s and Girl’s Invitational Volleyball Tournaments recently. A total of 12 teams participated in the boy’s tournament with 14 teams participating in the girl’s division.

The Sudbury Catholic District School Board would like to thank all of the coaches and volunteers who continue to give of their own time to attend practices and volleyball tournaments. Also, thank you to Mr. Jean Gallien who continues to do such an amazing job organizing and running our volleyball tournaments.
